Sacramento Business Journal: Female-led startup training program FourthWave seeks new companies
The FourthWave Accelerator, a training and networking program for female-led technology startups, will launch a 15-week training program this summer, culminating with an investor salon in Sacramento in the fall.
The cohort of female founders that went through the training in 2020 has raised more than $10 million, said Cheryl Beninga, co-founder of FourthWave and a business consultant.
FourthWave applications are due July 11 for this summer’s cohort of entrepreneurs.
FourthWave seeks to support female entrepreneurs with strategy and training to get the companies ready to raise money from investors.
Under the program, “each founder is paired with a mentor and a leadership coach,” said Cameron Law, executive director of the Carlsen Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University Sacramento, which is helping to present the accelerator.
The program seeks between 10 and 12 members, he said.
When the program ran in 2020, it accepted 13 companies, because all the applications were so good, he said.
At least half of the applicants are expected to be from the Sacramento area, and the program will accept companies from other parts of California to fill out the cohort.
